And so it’s finally finished…
Now that the dirt is about to go back into the holes, it’s time to thank you all for your involvement – on so many levels – in this year’s work at the hotel.
I’m going to leave it to Giles to tell you – in due course – why this year’s dig was so important to the developing story of the town and its inhabitants.
For my part, I’d like to concentrate on what I saw, day after day, in the attitudes and approach of those taking part- both from the bedrock of our experienced members and the new blood that has joined us. Even when it was hot and the work was slow, our folk came back for more so we are certainly gettng something right!
It was humbling and exciting to be part of it all.
When I’ve stepped forward to thank individuals for their efforts, one general observation seems to come back on many occasions: ‘It wasn’t me, it was teamwork’. If we didn’t do anything else, I think we demonstrated a high level of achievement and what can be done when we all work together to do it.
That, in my experience, is the key to success in any work involving large numbers of people – between 40 and 60 individuals at any one time this year – as well as the uplift that we got from our many visitors.
It’s never easy but I think we managed!
As with any large project, there are dark moments- but (as it always does) being on site with so many good people made me feel both posi6ve and excited about CRP’s future.
So many thanks to you all for what you gave to CRP and I look forward to hearing any comments or suggestions that you may have about any improvements – and to seeing you all again in the future,
Mike (Chair, CRP)
